Values-Based Investing

Investing in line with what matters to you, without losing sight of your long-term goals.

Values-Based Investing

At Dow Capital, we can tailor your portfolio to reflect your values, including environmental, social, and governance (ESG) preferences, while keeping our disciplined focus on quality, diversification, and your long-term objectives.

What is “ESG” or “Values-Based” Investing?

Values-based investing, sometimes called ESG investing, means taking your personal priorities into account alongside traditional financial analysis. Those priorities might include environmental responsibility, fair treatment of employees, ethical leadership, or community involvement. In practice, this usually means emphasizing or avoiding particular companies or industries based on preferences you share with us.

Direct Ownership.
Direct Investment.

Because we build portfolios using individual stocks and bonds, we are often able to provide a greater degree of customization than is available through traditional mutual funds or model portfolios. Depending on a client’s preferences, portfolios can be designed to consider:

Environmental

Take into account priorities such as resource use, emissions, and environmental policies when selecting or excluding companies.

Social

Take into account priorities related to employees, customers, communities, and workplace practices.

Corporate Governance

Take into account priorities such as leadership, board structure, shareholder rights, transparency, and business ethics.

Companies

Emphasize or limit individual companies based on their business practices and your preferences.

Industries

Reduce or avoid exposure to industries or business activities you’d prefer not to own, or emphasize those you’d like to support.

Your Financial Goals

We balance your preferences with investment quality, diversification, risk tolerance, and your long-term goals.

“ESG” investing is not a one-size-fits-all approach.

Values-based investing is not a one-size-fits-all approach. Every client defines “responsible investing” differently. Our role is to understand your priorities and build a portfolio that reflects both your financial goals and your values, whether your focus is the environment, corporate governance, social responsibility, or simply owning businesses you believe in.
